Koh Tao is Located approximately 65 km east of the coastline between Suratthani and Chumphon, north of Samui Island in the Gulf of Thailand. Koh Tao translates as Turtle Island because in the past the waters teemed with sea turtles. Nowadays they have moved on the new breeding grounds.
Koh Tao scuba diving is varied enough to suit all levels of divers. Firstly, there are the deep sites around towering submerged pinnacles, with their craggy rock faces seemingly alive with various hard and soft coral species. These sites are constantly visited by large pelagics. Secondly, there are dives along gentle sloping coral reefs. These are good places to see a rich diversity of marine life, good places for diving.
